More Me Made May 2019 and sewing for sweets. I love sewing for my daughter. So many fun prints and patterns to choose. She is really excited when I make new dresses for her. This one is the Bohemian Baby Doll dress from E & E patterns in lovely cotton print. I don’t know the name of the fabric since it was given to me as a bundle. I really love the sweet design of the dress. The curved bodice on the back and front along with the ruffle sleeves really drew me in to purchasing the pattern. I do wish the fit was better. It is really loose and wide on top. The sleeve openings are also very large. I know this is somewhat necessary to pull the dress over the head. I could definitely gone down a size or two at least for the bodice which is what I will do for the next version. I may also put snaps on the back and have the dress fit her shoulders.
The next dress is the Matilda from Violette Fields Threads. the fabric is Summersault Pixie Stick Posies in Cinnamon by Erin McMorris for Free Spirit. Such a fun and bright print. It is perfect for this simple dress. The pattern has elastic casings for the sleeves, waist, and neckline. It fits her really well and is easy to adjust as she grows. For this version I added pockets and reduced the size of the skirt.
The cropped knit pants were made using the Mini Hudson pattern by True Bias. I removed the pockets and made the calf length. The fabric is a super stretchy cotton lycra french terry. They fit a little below her knees and are the prefect cartwheel pants. She actually likes to wear them with knee socks and the cuffs tucked. Pretty cute.
The hot pink shorts are also from the Mini Hudson pattern. I added to the width and rise of the pattern to accommodate woven fabric. I also shortened the legs. The fabric is a cotton corduroy that was also given to me in a bundle. So again it pretty awesome to be a seamstress. Happy Me Made May everyone!
